William Bruce Milmine

I joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1968 and have travelled throughout Canada, the US and Europe in my 24 plus years with "the mob". In 1988 I was posted to Nova Scotia, and I wanted British Columbia, go figure. But like the Chief said, "Oh well, it's near an ocean." Within six months I knew I did not want to leave this area. The people have to be the friendliest I have found in my travels. One more thing, I have dabbled with poetry on ocassion, so if you care to you can go take a look.

I have four sons, three from a previous marrage. The oldest, Jason, who, like his Dad, moves around a lot. At present he's in Ontario, staying with, or near, his mother. The second oldest, Jarrod, is living in Clinton, Ontario. And my third son, Clinton, who lives with his mother in Van Astra, Ont. My fourth and youngest son Ryan, came to the clan when I married his mother, Anne (Page). But believe me, he is no less a son because of it. We have a wonderful relationship and I love him as if he had my blood.

After retiring from the military, I started The Coffee Clutch BBS, at first running on a 286 with a 40 Meg HD. Using Execuitive Host, from midnight to 7AM in those days, it grew to a 24 hour/day 7 day/week Wildcat system when I upgraded to a 386SX/25 and added a hard drive. In the end TCC was running on a 486DX/25 with 12 MB RAM, 2 larger drives, a CD-ROM, and two nodes. However, there is good news. Parts of TCC reside in our new computer, a 486DX2/50, and what was left of TCC's computer I gave to my son, Jarrod, his first computer. Since he was here for a week and discovered InterNet, we beefed up the old 486, dusted off the old USRobotics Courier Dual Standard, (144/HST) and I gave Jarrod instructions on it's use. I'm now doing E-Mail with Jarrod in Ontario, much faster then Snail Mail.

In Nov of 94, I married Anne Wood, and I got a full time job all in the same week. I found that I simply did not have the time to dedicate to TCC anymore. Anne and Ryan, (so now there is no more Fred McMurry for me) insisted that I keep it online as it was "important to you, Bruce." As time passed, she saw that I was spending less time with TCC and it was suffering, but I considered my family more important. So I finally gave the users a months notice that the BBS was going offline as of 1 April 95. Anne went through a tough month with me, I was grieving the loss of a friend even before I pushed the Big Red Button for the final time. Oh, and the one thing I do NOT miss, probably will never miss, and am glad I don't have anymore ...... the $200.00 and up monthly phone bills. I still remember the first "normal" phone bill, May 1995.
