Name Marie Owen.
I was born Dec.5th,1944 in Suffern, N.Y. When I was 4yrs.old, we moved to Long Island N.Y. Eventually I was married and we had 4 wonderful children. Unfortunately the marriage didn't last and ended in divorce. I remained in N.Y. to be near my family. In 1980 we found out that the children's father had passed away from cancer. In 1987, I decided to move to New Hampshire and start a new life for my children and myself. I now have five grandchildren and two more on the way. It has been a happy life for us here in New Hampshire. Except for the devastation of losing my only son 5 years ago.
I have one sister, whom you all know and love, as Jaye or Jayec. With her living in Virginia and me living here, sometimes it makes it difficult to keep in touch. With the help of our computers and the Cancer-Survivors chat room, we are now able to chat every night. And as a result we have come to know a closeness we have never experienced before.
In Dec. of 1994, I remember receiving a shocking phone call from my sister. She was very upset. That's when she told me she had cancer. It felt like my heart was just torn out. I knew there was nothing I could do to change that. I was so devastated. The only thing I knew I could do was to give her all the support and love she needed. It is very hard for a person to go through a sickness like this alone. That's when you think your life is over and nothing can be done. Jaye was a brave soul and hung in there, and I will do the same for her sake.
It's very hard for my family here, as we all share in the same bond for my sister. We are a close knit family and very loving. So we will always be there for my sister, as long as it takes and console her whenever she needs it. I thank God and my parents for a wonderful and beautiful sister.
