Hello, my name is Joel and at the time of this writing I am 24 years old and
live in Nova Scotia, Canada. I came to this channel in seek of support, I am
a caregiver to my father who is 50 with adenocarcinoma of the lungs, diagnosed
January 2001. He has undergone 5 treatments of chemotherapy along with 30 zaps
of radiotherapy. We are now just waiting for the results of the treatments.
The doctors have told us that they are very pleased with what they see so far.
I also have a good friend in the hospital at the moment battling AML Leukemia.
I have made a lot of good friends here and, hopefully when my father checks
out clean (note the unusual positiveness) I will continue to be here and try
to give support as I may.
I may be young but don't let it fool you, my body aches and I feel like an old
grandpa. I have many interests such as music and movies (James Bond!) and fast
cars that cost too much for any of us to afford. Being a CANADIAN (proudly!)
I have a passion for the game of hockey although I haven't really played a lot,
just with my buds. And as you can see by what I'm wearing, I love everything
Russian.
If I can take anything from this difficult battle, it is that it is in our nature
to NEVER GIVE UP! No matter how hard the battle is, you can't win if you give
up. There is always hope!
